Ijaz Tareen's picture

PESHAWAR: The Taliban have advanced deeper into Pakistan by engineering a class revolt that exploits profound fissures between a small group of wealthy landlords and their landless tenants, according to government officials and analysts here.

The strategy cleared a path to power for the Taliban in the Swat Valley, where the government allowed Islamic law to be imposed this week, and it carries broad dangers for the rest of Pakistan, particularly the militantsí main goal, the populous heartland of the Punjab.

CJP(Chief Justice of Pakistan) : Prove me wrong, take suo motto action on Swat deal!!

Ijaz Tareen's picture

Your lordship, I have never been a supporter of yours, i was sad when they threw you out, i was very angry when they locked up your family, for me every Pakistani kid is as important as my own kids but i kept quiet WHY because deep down i always believed that you will not be able to deliver what you are promising, because you had taken oath under the same PCO twice because nothing had changed during your tenure as CJP so there was no reason for me to believe otherwise.

Pakistan's Parliment approves Taliban amid open threats.

Ijaz Tareen's picture

ISLAMABAD: In a show of rare defiance, PML-N MNA Ayaz Amir stood up to the otherwise compliant members of his own and other parties in the National Assembly on Monday, probably in the light of open threats by Tehrik-e-Taliban (TTP) leaders to launch attacks on those who would dare to defy the deal. The MQM also showed some spine.

I'm delighted to be here, delighted to be part of this distinguished lecture series at a time when every American is especially grateful for our long friendship with the United Kingdom; one that we see manifest now in the partnership that President Bush and Tony Blair have demonstrated in the fight against Afghanistan; one that touched every American heart when the Queen instructed her band to play the American national anthem in the grounds of Buckingham Palace the day after September 11th.

Institutions are weak!! (from who's point of view, People or civil servants).

Ijaz Tareen's picture

Everything that goes wrong these days ranging from Terrorism to an Earth Quake is blammed on the weakness of institutions by the last Govt. Just yesterday i heard an IG Police level officer accusing the last Govt for making SHO's weak, their authority compromised. It really made me laugh and then sad to see that every one is trying to grab as much powers for their departments as possible by using this confusion that is ruling the country. Lets discuss some of the general features of this institution business that we hear almost every day.
